Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes and the County’s Commission on the Status of Women will present the 2016 Mercer County Woman of Achievement and Young Woman of Achievement awards at the commission’s volunteer awards reception on Tuesday, March 15, at 6 p.m. at Stone Terrace by John Henry’s, 2275 Kuser Road, Hamilton.
“Each year, a countless number of women who live and work in Mercer County quietly volunteer their time, energy and resources in an effort to improve the lives of others,” said Mr. Hughes. “These women have dedicated themselves to making Mercer County a better place to live.”
The Mercer County Woman of Achievement Award was established to honor women who are Mercer County residents and 18 years old or older who volunteer time to make the County a better place to live, raise a family and work. The Young Woman of Achievement Award honors a female high school student 18 years old or younger who has shown a commitment to the Mercer County community through volunteer work.
Recipients of the 2016 volunteer awards are:
Judith Arnold
Woman of Achievement: Judith Arnold. Arnold is a semi-retired East Windsor resident who has been a volunteer in the community for 30-plus years, working with National Junior Tennis & Learning of Trenton, Princeton Tennis Program, UIH Family Partners, Princeton CommunityWorks, Anchor House, the United States Tennis Association and the Mercer County Tennis Council, among others. Over the past six years, Ms. Arnold has put her focus on the Machestic Dragons Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team and currently serves on the all-volunteer board as vice president.
Mary Lou Cimini
Woman of Achievement: Mary Lou Cimini. Cimini is a retired Hamilton resident and has been volunteering for 19 years at Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County. Over the years, Ms. Cimini has accepted the challenge to chair many of the efforts of ICGMC including serving as lead coordinator, trainer and volunteer for Project Healthy Bones, and helping homebound people in need of assistance.
Tessa Frisby
Woman of Achievement: Teska Frisby. Frisby is a Trenton resident working as the office manager for National Junior Tennis & Learning of Trenton. She has been the organizer of “Salute Our Troops,” a citywide letter-writing campaign, for the last two years. In addition, she was appointed to serve on the City of Trenton’s ADA committee, and regularly volunteers for the YMCA of Trenton, raising money for much-needed programming for inner-city youth and their families.
Woman of Achievement: Stacey Judge. Judge is a Hightstown resident and the program director for the Community Wellness Program at Springpoint Senior Living/Meadow Lakes. A volunteer for more than 10 years, she is currently the chairperson for the Hightstown Borough Park & Recreation Commission, and worked as an EMT with the East Windsor First Aid Squad from 2008-2011.
Young Woman of Achievement: Hinal Shah. An East Windsor resident, Miss Shah is a senior at Mercer County Technical Schools Health Science Academy. She has volunteered more than 150 hours in the nursing unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, as well as 170-plus hours at Quakerbridge Pediatrics. She also gives dance performances for charity through the March of Dimes.
