The Hopewell Valley CHS Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team finished out their regular season last week with games against Hillsborough and Delaware Valley. On Monday, they played a very difficult game against Hillsborough, losing in two sets 6-25 and 17-25. Following up on Tuesday, the girls played a great three-set game against Delaware Valley. They won the first set 25-21, lost the second 21-25, and won the third 25-12.
The Bulldogs also played two games in the BCSL tournament in Cinnaminson, winning their game against Cinnaminson two sets to one and winning their game against Moorestown in only two sets. Because of these two wins, the girls will be competing in the semi-finals against Princeton. – Emilie Sawicki
The CHS Girls’ Tennis team had another very successful week. They started off on Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Notre Dame. Jackie Sun, the first singles player, lost the first set 3-6 and started the second set 1-4 but came back and won the second set 6-4 and the third set tie breaker 10-8.
On Thursday, they defeated Steinert 4-1, making them division champions. All of the girls won by large margins. The team is undefeated in their eight team division. The team put up a good fight on Friday against The Lawrenceville School, one of the hardest teams they play, but lost 0-5. They play their last three matches next week against Allentown, Stuart, and West Windsor Plainsboro North. -Paz Baum
The CHS Field Hockey team ended last week’s game with West Windsor Plainsboro South in a tie. They play Holmdel tomorrow in the state tournament. –Bella DiNardo
CHS Boys Varsity Soccer went 0-2 last week. On Monday the Bulldogs played Steinert but fell in a tough loss 2-0. This was their last game of the regular season, setting their record at 10-6 and their CVC record at 10-4. On Thursday, Hopewell played in the Mercer County Tournament against a tough opening opponent, the Hun School. The game was extremely close, with no goals scored all the way through double overtime. Hopewell lost 3-1 in penalties to knock the Bulldogs out of the tournament, but they will still play a consolation game against Robbinsville next week. –Christopher Sawicki
It was another tough game for the Hopewell Valley CHS Varsity Football team on Friday, losing to Notre Dame 42-6. The Bulldogs started the season strong, but they have lost two in a row, dropping their record to 4-2. Their next game is Saturday at Princeton High School. –MercerMe Staff
On Saturday, the Hopewell Valley Youth Football 100 pound team (9-10 year-olds) dropped a hard fought game to the Northern Burlington Greyhounds. Coach Mike Barker and the 100s, with support from the cheerleaders, continue their push for the playoffs this Saturday at Hopewell against rival Lawrence.
The Flag Team (4-6 year-olds) earned a victory against a stout Greyhound team and continued a season of fun and learning the sport. The flag team finishes its season this Saturday at Northern Burlington at the West Jersey Flag Jamboree, which also will be attended by teams from Florence and Haddon Township. -Community contributor
