D2 girls

Fyrefly Yoga v. Clarke Insurance. On Saturday October 3, team Fyrefly Yoga scored a victory over team Clarke Insurance with a 3-1 win. The winning team was led by the hustle of the Fyrefly mid-fielders Kylie Ewert and Sasha Heimann. Amazing goalkeeping by Sophia Prunetti and Ava McNally secured the victory despite a tremendous effort by team Clarke Insurance. For team Clarke Insurance, some lineup adjustments were made at the half after going down 0-3 and they came out ready to play in the second half. Samantha Parsons, Ava Berg, Anna Bailey, Olivia Armendinger, and Kelly Hujber demonstrated superior physical fitness in the defense and midfield, hustling after every ball. Celia Carsky-Wilson, Scarlet IaIamov, and Olivia Hack left their usual defensive positions behind and were all over the field in the second half. The aggressive play by Clarke Insurance paid off with Celia Carsky-Wilson pocketing a well-deserved goal to the opponent’s net.

Hopewell Express v. Greenleaf Landscaping. Also on Saturday, team Hopewell Express put on a defensive show defeating team Greenleaf Landscaping 3-0. Goalies Reese Bourne, Sloan Ritter, Sophia Landolina, and Morgan Upson kept Greenleaf at bay with help from solid defense by the entire team.  Morgan Upson scored twice, once on a perfect cross from Ashley Kurian and Sophia Landolina put the game away late with the third goal for team Express.

Hopewell Express v. Clarke Insurance. On Sunday afternoon, another magnificent game was played by two strong teams, Hopewell Express and Clarke Insurance. During the first half, Clarke Insurance’s experienced player, Eleanor MacDonald, blasted a precise right footed strike from inside the opponent’s 18-yard box. The blazing missile deflected off the post without yielding a goal. With the score knotted at zero at the half, Sloan Ritter broke the tie for team Hopewell Express with a breakaway goal as she slipped passed the D with a great move at midfield and then put the ball in the back of the net with a perfect shot. After that, team Clarke Insurance commenced an offensive onslaught. Morgan Upson in net held them off the board in the third quarter with amazing defense led by Reese Bourne and with help from Emma Luciano, Kayal Kasi, Lauren Dwyer, Eva DeMinico, Natalie Frush, and Brigid Falk. During the fourth quarter, Clarke Insurance kept the pressure on and Ashley Kurian made no short of eight amazing saves in net for the Express enabling them to walk away with an amazingly hard fought 1-0 team victory. In the second half, the Clarke Insurance defense was led by Celia Carsky-Wilson, Kelly Hujber, and Fiona Dilek, all showing terrific ability to defend against Hopewell Express attacks. Clarke Insurance’s strikers got a workout and displayed admirable skills with June Branham and Kate Krupa constantly sprinting into the opponent’s box and communicating well during the game. Although the Clarke Insurance controlled an overwhelming amount of ball possession throughout the game, the Hopewell Express came out victorious with a 1-0 win, thanks to an early goal in the beginning of second half. 

Fyrefly Yoga v. Greenleaf Landscaping. Also on Sunday, team Fyrefly Yoga earned a 3-1 victory over team Greenleaf Landscaping due to a great effort by the entire Fyrefly squad. The team is really coming together and playing as a single unit. Despite stiff competition from team Greanleaf, the Fyreflies’ victory was delivered through an amazing effort from the Bloom sisters. Lydia Bloom’s two assists and her sister Sadie’s goal helped secure the win.   

D3 girls

Pixie Salon v. M3. The M3 girls won 2-1 against Pixie Salon this Sunday with two stellar early goals by Angie Wilson. Tina Zheng had an amazing shout on goal during the first half while Abigail Gola, Carolan Falk, and Eliana Fastag-Rosendield held down the defensive line. The ball was controlled in the midfield due to great footwork and speed from Emma Stowe, Eleanor Farmer and Adhya Pandit, while M3’s offense pressured Pixie’s goalie utilizing Kendra Gendusi’s fantastic dribbling and speed, as well as Gracie Cooper’s and Emily Simpson’s leg strength and great shots. M3 maintained possession of the ball for most of the second half, only allowing Pixie to get one shot on goal. 

Pixie Salon defeated m3 Studios 3-0 on Saturday. Angelyn Li scored 2 goals and Kaylie Weeast scored 1, while Samantha Weeast had a shut out game in goal. Defense was led by Maggie Woodside, with assistance of Lola Caruso, Alexandra Rowe, and Ainsley Weed.  Offense was assisted by Luca Burd, Daphne Edmond-Marietti, Andrea Odaa, and Siria Vallucci.

It’s Nutts v. Wilson Apple Funeral Home. On a crisp Saturday morning, Hopewell Valley Division 2 Boys Wilson Apple Funeral Home won a hard-fought game 2 to 1 against a spirited It’s Nutts team. Strong saves by Wilson Apple goalie Cole Tracy-Enderle and offense by Michael Widener were matched by It’s Nutts goalie/ center mid/ forwards Taegan Levy, Collin Levesque, and Jackson Mooney. Robert Litz and Liam Murray-Mazur anchored a strong It’s Nutts defense, and Colin Mann combined with Taegan Levy for It’s Nutts’ lone goal.

HVSA Black v. Soccer Post. Soccer Post defeated HVSA Black 6-3 on Saturday.. HVSA Black opened up scoring in the first minute with a quick strike from Dylan Yasher, but Soccer Post answered within the first 5 minutes. The game remained tied throughout most of the game, with Yasher scoring again just prior to the half, and Alden Levy controlling a high pass to bury it in the net at the start of the second half. But a well-rested Soccer Post scored three unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarter. Will Antoun anchored HVSA Black on defense, with Carter Horvath and Alden Levy trading goalie duties. Patrick Schouten, Colin Moran, Eddie Besant, Nate Heiss, and Stephen Bilobran rounded out the HVSA Black side on defense and midfield.

HVSA Black v. Capital Health On Sunday, HVSA Black faced a strong Capital Health squad for the second time this season. HVSA’s Dylan Yasher opened scoring at the end of the first half with two goals. Alden Levy cut off all the angles as goalie, and Connor Batcha combined with Yasher for two more goals in the third quarter. Will Antoun anchored HVSA’s defense, with Patrick Schouten playing aggressively on the wings throughout the game. Capital Health scored two goals in the fourth quarter. Final score: HVSA Black (4), Capital Health (2).
