Cross Country
Monday, Hopewell Valley took on Princeton at Mercer County Park. Princeton topped the Bulldogs 20-38 on the boys side. Carmac Dow was the first ‘Dawg across the line. In the Girls race, Princeton dealt a similar fate, defeating Hopewell 20-40. Paige Dumont* crossed the line first for Hopewell Valley.
Hopewell Valley finalized the season Saturday with a Sectional meet at Monroe’s Thompson Park. Here, the boys placed third with Cormac Dow placing sixth overall. The girls placed second behind Colts Neck,* Paige Dumont,* who placed second overall. Dorothy Wong* got tenth.
Boys Soccer
Wednesday night, in pouring rain, Hopewell Valley hosted the Princeton Tigers. Hopewell scored in the first three minutes on a goal by Christian Poehlein. That goal held up for a 1-0 victory. This game served as a warm-up for both teams entering the State Tournament. All during the first half Hopewell pressed the action. The second half, it was Princeton asserting themselves. Austin Roell truly earned the shutout in goal for the Bulldog.
Field Hockey
Saturday night, in the NJSIAA first round tournament game, Robbinsville Ravens came to Hopewell Valley looking for revenge to a loss from earlier this season. The game went through double overtime and extra strokes. But, when the dust settled, Robbinsville came away with a 3-2 win. Robbinsville took the extra strokes 4-3. Robbinsville got goals from Sydney Sieja and Alyssa Palagano. Scoring for Hopewell was Bella Dinard and Chloe Margulies. Goalies Maria Haynes (Hopewell Valley) and Caitlin Fernandes (Robbinsville) were outstanding making key saves.
