Monday Sports Update

Wednesday, the Ravens of Robbinsville came to Hopewell Valley and handed the Boys Basketball team a cold hearted defeat 51-37.  Jake Loughery led Hopewell with a valiant effort of 16 points. Gabe Rodriguez followed with 8 points and Kevin Ellis had 7 points.   

Saturday the Hopewell Valley Boys Basketball team celebrated Senior Day. Seniors being honored were Kaan Eturk, Harrison Beckett, Gabe Rodriguez, Jake Loughery, and Jackson Whitlock. In game action, the Bulldogs took a four game losing streak frustration out on the Steinert Spartans winning 73-59. Jake Loughery made the most of his Senior Day scoring 24 points (five 3 pointers). Brendan O’Reilly followed with 15. Beckett Harrison had 13 rebounds. In all, 10 players scored for the Bulldogs. 

The Girls Basketball team had a difficult week. On Monday, they met Allentown in a disappointing 34-37 loss. Franki Gomez was the points leader with 11, followed by Hailey Rowe with 10, Gillian Magner with 5 and Lauren Morici and Anderson Cappucci with 4. Wednesday, they lost to Robbinsville 36-60. Franki Gomez led with 16 points, followed by Hailey Rowe with 12, Anderson Cappucci with 4, and Acadia Kurtz and Gillian Magner, both with 2. On Saturday, they met Steinert for a nail biter. Once again, Franki Gomez led the scoring with 18, followed by Gillian Magner (8), Acadia Kurtz (6), Hailey Rowe (3) and Anderson Cappucci (2).  The final score was a disappointing 37-38 loss.
