Mother’s Day March to benefit moms in need May 7 in Pennington

by Community Contributor

Hope Rises Up hopes you will join them for their upcoming Mother’s Day March on Saturday, May 7 at 1pm. The organization is continuing with its annual tradition of sourcing compassion and resources for the benefit of mamas and the people they love, who have been impacted by violence, tragedy, and all manners of injustice.

Hope Rises Up will be collecting donations this year on behalf of two organizations. Women for Women International, which invests in women survivors of war and conflict, providing them with social and economic skills to transform their own lives. We are also supporting National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, which works to end violence against American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women by lifting up the collective voice of grassroots advocates and offering culturally grounded resources, technical assistance and training, and policy development to strengthen tribal sovereignty.

The 2.23 mile route will start and end at the HVRSD Administration building, at 425 South Main Street in Pennington. We encourage all marchers to invite friends and family to sponsor their walk. You can register here to walk, or sponsor a walker here. (Yes, you may sponsor yourself!)

For more information about the event, and the organizations they are supporting, please visit the HRU website, which also has a mailing address if you prefer to send a check, and an optional sponsorship sign up if you would like to collect sponsors that way.

Hope Rises Up asks you to help this event GROW by sharing with your friends and neighbors. If you use Facebook, please RSVP via Facebook as well, and invite your friends to do the same!
