Music on the Vine Event to Benefit Musical Arts Programs in Hopewell and Trenton

by Mary Galioto

Hopewell Valley Central High School PTO is hosting a celebration to benefit the musical arts programs of two schools, Hopewell Valley High School and Trenton High School, at a one-night event called “Music on the Vine – Building Community Through Music.” The goal is to raise funds for both performing arts programs to collaborate, learn, grow, and perform together.

The event is the second annual “…On The Vine” event hosted by the PTO. The first was “Arts on the Vine” which raised funds for enhancements to the Visual Arts Department at Hopewell Valley Central High School.

image005Sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center, with a special musical performance by Sony Recording artist Sachal Vasandani, proceeds from Music on the Vine will provide the music programs of both Hopewell Valley High and Trenton High with instruments, workshops, and performances to create a continued musical partnership between the two schools. The building of community between the student musicians of both schools will be enabled by Jazz at Lincoln Center, who will be purchasing instruments for the schools.

According to Tracy Martin, chairperson of the event, “This year’s event is very special. Jazz At Lincoln Center has agreed to work generously with us to maximize our impact with these schools and our young people. The goal is to raise awareness and together explore the cultural and artistic differences as well as similarities within our combined communities.”

Music on the Vine is being held on December 5th at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club, from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are available on the website onthevineHV.org, where silent auction offerings are also listed.
