Open Mic night coming to the Hopewell Theatre

A monthly open mic night is coming to the Hopewell Theater, hosted by well-known local resident of Hopewell Valley and owner of The Peasant Grill in Hopewell Borough, Michelle Klein. This partnership between Klein and Hopewell Theater will allow local residents to showcase their talents on a renowned stage.

Your Stage at Any Stage, the open mic night’s formal name, will give artists the experience of performing on stage in a beautiful state-of-the-art theater for a live audience. We welcome all stages of performers, from newcomers to established artists and everyone in between,” said Klein.

Klein, herself, has been performing for most of her life. She describes: “I have done children’s theater, stand-up comedy, and have sung at many open mics.”

As a veteran of performing arts, Klein wants others to have the opportunity to explore performing as well. “I envision the open mic becoming a true community-based event where performers can feel at ease on stage,” Klein elaborated.

Your Stage at Any Stage has been shared on the Hopewell Theater website and social media sites. Klein explained, “Participants were able to sign up online (via Hopewell Theater’s website) listing their availability, performance type and offer a brief bio.” Each night will be curated with a focus on variety.

Several dates for open mic nights have already been scheduled. The first open mic will be on September 16, 2021. Doors open at 6pm and performances will begin at 7pm. The event will run for approximately 90 minutes. Other dates scheduled include October 21, 2021 and November18, 2021.

Klein reminds prospective performers that “life is short and an adventure. Everyone starts somewhere and this is the perfect place and opportunity to go for it!”

Klein also urges the community to come together and show support for the event.“Tickets are only $15! We have a great lineup of emerging talent as well as several locally known artists that will be part of the series,” she said.

  1. This is really cool! Mercer County has desperately needed more options for musicians to perform. Hopefully the artists can get paid as well.
