Pennington Borough Council met on Monday evening, September 13, 2021 via Zoom.
Mayor Davy issued proclamations commending the work of two retirees, Joseph Lawver and Stephanie Carey. Davy honored their many years of faithful service to Pennington Borough.
Joseph Lawver, who served as mayor of Pennington Borough for several years, was succeeded by Davy as Mayor of Pennington Borough in June of this year. Davy expressed gratitude to Lawver on behalf of Borough residents. “The taxpayers of Pennington are grateful for Joe’s dedicated service in relentlessly striving for the betterment of the community.”
Stephanie Carey served as Health Officer for Montgomery Township which in turn, provides health services to Borough residents. Carey has a long resume of service to public health, including guiding Pennington Borough through the COVID-19 pandemic. Davy thanked Carey for her service to the community. “Stephanie is a consummate public health professional who was 100 percent focused on the health and wellbeing of our residents.”
Council heard a proposed resolution to place a generator on a drainage easement behind Boro Market at 147 West Delaware Avenue. The property requesting the resolution is owned by Old Mill Square, LLC. After the most recent flooding event, the property owners are requesting placement of the generator in the easement area, on a platform to avoid future issues with flooding disrupting operation of the business. As noted here, Boro Market had approximately 50” of water in its basement following Hurricane Ida. Further investigation of placement of the generator was required and will be addressed in the coming weeks before final approval.
The Borough Council also approved a resolution to allow the use of Pennington Borough police officers in the filming of a short movie in October. Local filmmaker Adrian Perez applied for use of the police officers in a scene being filmed at Pennington Market in October on behalf of Mesh Films, LLC. Filming will take place overnight and will not show the faces of the officers or the town designation on the officer’s cars.
