by Andrea Fereshteh

The streets of Pennington Borough come alive this Saturday, May 17 with dancers, musicians, artists, craftsmen, local businesses, children’s events, nonprofits and more for Pennington Day, an annual street fair highlighting the best of small town Pennington and historic Hopewell Valley.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the action will focus at the intersection of East Curlis Avenue and Main Street with the main Crossroads Stage, Kid Pavilion and Food Court at Toll Gate Grammar School. Booths lining Main Street feature local businesses and community organizations while Howe Commons’ Green Street experience will focus on the Hopewell Valley Arts Council’s Stampede project.

PDdancersNow in its 34th year, Pennington Day evolved from a community picnic organized in 1980 to raise funds for The Pennington School after a devastating fire. It has evolved
over the years into a much-anticipated annual event that continues its charter to give back and strengthen its community. Through the generosity of event sponsors, the Pennington Day Board of Directors raises funds in the form of community grants. In 2013 fourteen grants were awarded to local non-profits to support various missions totaling over $9,400. The grant ceremony will be held throughout the festivities at the Crossroads Stage.

For more information, check out PenningtonDay.com and come say hello to MercerMe’s Andrea who will be staffing the Friends of the Pennington Library booth from 12-2pm and herding her cats (read: children) the rest of the time. 🙂 Hope to see you there this weekend!
