Pennington Farmers Market Kicks Off Sixth Season Saturday, June 7

by Andrea Fereshteh

With Memorial Day officially signaling the start of summer, another seasonal tradition begins this weekend. The Pennington Farmers Market opens its sixth season on Saturday, June 7.

Held every Saturday now through the end of October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Rosedale Mills at 101 Rt. 31 North in Pennington, the market features fresh organic produce, baked goods and flowers for purchase from vendors based within 50 miles of Pennington.

Local musicians play live each week, and the market welcomes children and pets.

This season the market welcomes a new vendor, Silver Birch Kitchens from Long Valley, New Jersey, offering fresh-made jams, breads, soups and dips.

The market also features monthly themes such as fitness, sustainability, preserving and canning, kids and the arts around which they organize special vendors and activities for attendees.

Joann Held, a member of the farmers market board, says the market sees between 150-400 people each weekend and regular visitors enjoy the sense of community the market fosters, and the fact that it becomes a weekly gathering place for familiar faces.
