Pennington Seeks Volunteers for 125th Anniversary Celebrations

by Mary Galioto

Pennington Borough will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2015 with a year-long host of events and activities. In order to make these festivities possible, Pennington Borough is seeking volunteers.

The official date of incorporation was April 1, 1890 (no fooling!) so the year of celebration will begin on that date and be carried through the rest of the year as a theme through all of the usual Pennington area festivities, in addition to some new ones. Some of the new event ideas that were discussed at the last planning meeting are a historic church tour, self-guided walking tour of Pennington with volunteers dressed in period clothing, a slide-show at the library, an archival exhibit at the Pennington School, a Pennington cemetery tour as well as local bands and choruses performing at several churches and other local venues.

Some subcommittees have already begun to be formed including publications, ecumenical, advertising, events and funding. If these pique your interest or if you just want to help make it a fantastic year for Pennington, please attend the next planning meeting tomorrow Wednesday November 19 at 7pm at Borough Hall.
