Police Arrest Power Tool Thieves in Hopewell Township

An investigation has led to charges against two people involved with a burglary that occurred on Blackwell Road on December 13, 2014.

On December 13th at approximately 9:20 AM Officer James Klesney responded to a Blackwell Road address for the report of a burglary to a garage. It was reported that sometime between 8:30 AM December 12th and 9 AM December 13th someone had removed a padlock from the garage door and removed several power tools. The tools were valued at over $4,000.00.

Further investigation by Officer Klesney revealed that numerous construction tools fitting the description of the stolen items had been pawned by [Name 1 Omitted] at a Trenton business earlier in the day. The owner was able to identify his tools at the pawn shop.

A follow-up investigation by Detective Frank Tulko led to the charges of burglary and theft being filed against [Name 1] and [Name 2], a former employee of the victim. Arrest warrants were then issued for both men.

[Name 1] was arrested on January 31st by the Hamilton Township Police Department and was turned over to the Hopewell Township Police Department. [Name 1] was released after being processed and his case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

[Name 2]  was arrested on February 4th by Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Gary Wasko and was turned over to the Hopewell Township Police Department. After being processed, [Name 2] was lodged at the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $15,000.00 bail (10%). [Name 2]’s case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
