Princeton Family YMCA Elects Paul Biondi as New Chair

by Mary Galioto

At the Princeton Family YMCA’s Annual Meeting last week, the Board of Directors elected Paul Biondi of Skillman to lead the board as chairman.

Mr. Biondi has been a member of the Y’s board of directors since April 2011. He chaired the Finance Committee for two years and has been a key member of the executive committee.

Prior to joining the YMCA’s board of directors, Mr. Biondi’s family was a member of the Y when his three children attended the Y’s Child Development Center as preschoolers.

“Ironically, it wasn’t until I joined the board that I came to understand and really appreciate what the Y does for the greater community. Very few people know that the Y gives back more than $450,000 annually through financial assistance, subsidies and free programs. The Y offers opportunities for people of all ages and circumstances – ranging from free early learning programs for young children and their caregivers, to free wellness programs to individuals with limited resources. I’m always impressed with how much positive impact the YMCA has on the community. One of my goals as chair is to help others understand how important the Y mission is to our community, expand our reach and programs and get more people involved in building what can be an exciting future for us. I am grateful to my predecessor, David Sandahl, for his leadership over past nine years and for the building such a high quality board and management team led by our CEO, Kate Bech,” shared Biondi.

Professionally, Mr. Biondi is Senior Vice President, Research & Development (R&D) Operations at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In his role, he oversees BMS’ portfolio and drug development program management as well as global clinical trial operations. He is a member of the R&D Senior Leadership Team as well as numerous other governance bodies within Research & Development.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Mr. Biondi lives in Skillman, New Jersey with his wife Carolyn and three children, Charlie, Marion and Ben. He is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Rocky Hill where he continues to be on the Vestry. He succeeds David Sandahl of Pennington who served the Y as chair for nine years, and as a member of the board of directors for more than twenty. Mr. Sandahl was recognized for his contributions at a celebration in December.

In addition to Mr. Biondi, the following people serve on the Princeton Family YMCA board of directors: Bradley Ackerman, Vicky Corrodi, Rev. Dave Davis, Will Dove, Jane Fransson, Ashley Henderson, Lauren Hogshire, PJ Jayachandran, Akira Johnson, David Leach, Cameron Manning, Stephen A. Miller, Steve Omiecinski, Merilyn Rovira, Bill Rue, Jr., Nikki Sciotto, Peter Sharpless, Tracy Sipprelle and Rev. John White.
