The Princeton Impact Project, a movement “meet-up” of local community members who work cooperatively to create business models that tackle social problems like inequality and climate change, will be hosting a social innovation conference, called Cooperative Impact, at the Princeton Garden Theater on Thursday May 14.
One of the objectives of the social innovation conference is to help individuals translate interest and passion into something sustainable and viable, through using business models, in other words, becoming social entrepreneurs, learning how to identify the most profitable business model to integrate with their community initiative. Furthermore, social entrepreneurs will learn how to prepare for funding and how to most effectively expose themselves to impact investors. The conference will also explore how nonprofits can move away from a funding system involving constant fundraising to one based on a sustainable business model.
“It’s a chance to engage and involve in changing the world for the better – a breakthrough event that shines a light on social entrepreneurship, crowdfunding, innovative community outreach and non-profit support,” said event organizer and Princeton Impact Project founder, Daniel D’Alonzo.
Aimed at community members, nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, impact investors, and individuals holding government offices, the ticket purchase includes early morning yoga, breakfast, admission to the event with guest speakers, coffee break with refreshments, and a social impact manual.
Among presenters scheduled for the conference: Liz Lempert, Mayor of Princeton, NJ; Laura Jordan, who registered the first-ever benefit corporation in 2010, and is a “B Corp Champion” by B Labs; Allison Sosna, founder of MicroGreens; Tineke Thio, PhD, Princeton Climate Change; Gery Juleff, host and executive producer of GreenHourRadio.com; James Cox, Devon Financial; Christine Symington, Sustainable Princeton; Jane Reagan, Along the Way; and Daniel D’Alonzo, event host and founder of the Princeton Impact Project.
