Public Works Employees Awarded for Saving Fallen Resident in Hopewell Township

by Mary Galioto

At last night’s Hopewell Township Committee meeting, three employees of Hopewell Township Public Works were awarded for their heroic actions.

On January 10, 2018, two Hopewell Township Public Works employees noticed a Hopewell Township resident who had fallen in the snow at the bottom of her steps and was unable to get up. The Public Works employees assessed whether the resident was okay and proceeded to call their immediate supervisor to report the situation and assist the resident up and into her house. The supervisor contacted a relative who was then able to assist with further medical attention. For their actions, David Stokes, Micahel Martin, and Kasey Self-Gomes were awarded by Hopewell Township.

“It is for these efforts that the injuries sustained were kept minimum and non-life threatening,” said David Guerard, general foreman of Hopewell Township Public Works. “Your dedication to the residents of Hopewell Township is admirable, and it also stands as a testament to your character. I truly appreciate your efforts.”

“The Hopewell Township Police Department would like to commend our township co-workers on a job well done,” said Hopewell Township Police Chief Lance Maloney, when reached for comment.
