Recreation Foundation Announces Community Grant Program

by Mary Galioto

The Recreation Foundation of Hopewell Valley has announced its own community grant program beginning June 1, 2015, which will allow recreational non-profit organizations in Hopewell Valley to apply for a grant for amounts ranging from $250 to $2,500. The funds for the grants are the result of the organization’s annual fundraiser, the Fall Ball.

“The purpose of the Grant Program is to help fund recreational programs and projects for all ages in the Hopewell Valley that might need a little help in getting their program off the ground,” explained one RFHV spokesperson.

The Recreation Foundation is one of Hopewell Valley’s premier advocates for facilities that provide active and healthy recreational options for area youth. Foundation Trustees include the heads of all the major recreation providers in Hopewell Valley. Through creative and successful fundraising activities resulting in donations of over 1.5 million dollars, the Foundation has been the driving force in the construction of the five multi-use fields at the Athletic Fields at Timerlane and the multi-sport artificial turf field at Central High School.

“The Hopewell Valley community has been so supportive of the Recreation Foundation and especially of our last project – the Turf Field at Central High School. As a result, we wanted to give back to the community in a way that we could help smaller organizations help accomplish their goals,” explained Kim Bruno, Trustee for the Recreation Foundation.

Nonprofit recreational organizations working in the greater Hopewell Valley are invited to participate in the grant application process. Funds may be applied to either special projects or for specific operating expenses, as indicated on the application. All organizations requesting funding must show they are exempt under section 501(c)3. A copy of the organization’s nonprofit status must accompany your application, as well as a copy of their most recent 990 Tax Return.

For more information and to download a copy of the grant application, please visit the Recreation Foundation’s web site at www.hvrecfoundation.org, or you can contact Kim Bruno at [email protected]   Applications are due July 15, 2015.
