Removal of Emerald Ash Trees Begins in Lawrence Township

by Angela Jacobs

As reported by MercerMe, Lawrence Township, like many other municipalities across the country, is dealing with Emerald Ash trees that have been infected with the Emerald Ash Borer beetle.

By the end of this winter, 89 such trees in Lawrence Township will be removed (tree, stumps, and roots). Locations of the widespread removal include Dix Road, Morrell Road, Canal View Drive, Flanigan Street, Tamar Court, Bergen Street, Baker Street, Province Line Road, Dayna Lane, Anthony Lane, and Mink Court.

The $27K project cost is being paid for by a 2016 budget appropriation and will be carried out by Mazza Mulch and Rich Tree Service, Inc.

A $16K tree replanting project will occur on Morrell Road, Canal View Drive, Flanigan Street, Tamar Court, Baker Street, Dayna Lane, Anthony Lane, and Mink Court following the removal project. Replanting will be done by Sussman Enterprises, Inc., the cost also paid for by a 2016 budget appropriation.
