Residential Fire on West Prospect in Hopewell Borough

The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Hopewell Fire Department, responded to a West Prospect Street address for a report of a residential structure fire around 9am. Hopewell Township Police Officer Sara Erwin arrived within minutes and observed an active fire. Fire personnel, under the command of Lieutenant Ben Crane of the Hopewell Fire Department, arrived on location and began to battle the fire.

Responding agencies assisting the Hopewell Fire Department included Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Pennington Fire Company, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Company, Montgomery Fire Company #2, Princeton Fire Department, Princeton First Aid Squad and the Hopewell Emergency Medical Unit. The fire was quickly brought under control. The home suffered moderate fire damage, as well as heat, smoke and water damage. It was left uninhabitable.

The fire is believed to be accidental in nature originating on the exterior of the residence.

This incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department (Detective Alexis Mirra) and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services (Specialist John Schafer) and Fire Official Andy Fosina.
