September 11 Remembered in Hopewell Valley

by Mary Galioto

Hopewell Valley remembered the lives lost on September 11, 2001 in two special ceremonies this year.

This morning, beginning at Bear Tavern Elementary School, the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services community transported the organization’s small piece of World Trade Center steel down Bear Tavern Road to Janssen Pharmaceutical, in Hopewell Township. Students from Bear Tavern Elementary School waved flags out as the procession passed.

Expressing gratitude for the event, Janssen posted to social media: “We proudly recognize the service and sacrifices made by first responders by hosting a piece of steel from the World Trade Center.”

This past weekend, the Hopewell Valley September 11th and Emergency Services Memorial Committee hosted their annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony on Saturday September 9th in Woolsey Park (formerly Alliger Park).
