Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on Ingleside and RT 31

Hopewell Township Police Department reported that at 7:23 a.m. on December 14, 2015, the Hopewell Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on S.H. 31 at the intersection of Ingleside Avenue.

Meaghan McGowan, a 25 year old female, from Spotswood NJ was operating a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta and attempting to cross over Route 31 from Ingleside Avenue eastbound. She pulled out into the path of a south bound 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee being operated by 18 year old Robert Smith of Pennington NJ.

The vehicles collided on Route 31. Ms. McGowan sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the hospital by the Pennington First Aid Squad.  Mr. Smith sustained injuries to his leg and was transported to the hospital by Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.

Ms. McGowan was found at fault for the crash and cited for Failure to Observe a Traffic Signal [stop sign] and Careless Driving.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The Pennington Fire Company also assisted at the scene.

The crash was investigated by Officer Joseph Maccaquano of the Hopewell Township Police Department.
