At the 4th annual “Holes for Hope” golf marathon, Keith Stewart, golf professional at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, played 150 holes of golf yesterday to raise money for Christine’s Hope for Kids (“CHFK”), a local non-profit supporting less fortunate children.
A majority of the money raised by the marathon for CHFK will go toward New Jersey Golf Foundation’s “Golf in Schools” program. CHFKs funding will provide equipment to schools where the the New Jersey Golf Foundation offers the opportunity for underprivileged children to learn how to play golf. The program reaches over 100,000 kids in New Jersey.
“It is a way I can give back to the game which has given so much to me,” shared Stewart.
Stewart played 8 full 18-hole rounds with 6 extra holes throughout the day finishing in less than 10 hours. Also playing 36 holes each were Stewart’s assistant professionals Darren Bolton, Anthony Sama, Ryan Jones, Dan Caskey and Bryan Poole. They all played the last hole together and, with luck on his side, Stewart birdied!
Stewart shared that when playing, club members let them play through and gave so much support. “The members cheered us on. It was a really great community building day at the club — very fulfilling,” said Stewart.
The group raised over $10,000, so far, through pledges and are still accepting donations until Monday September 8th, at Christine’s Hope for Kids golf outing at Springdale Golf Club.
