State Group Honors Clinic Supervisor at Mercer County Wildlife Center

by Mary Galioto

The Mercer County Park Commission is proud to announce that Nicole Golden, Clinic Supervisor at the Mercer County Wildlife Center, has received the New Jersey Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators (NJAWR) Rising Star Award.

“The Rising Star Award is a great honor for Nicole Golden,” said County Executive Brian M. Hughes. “It is given to recognize and encourage an individual who has demonstrated significant dedication, engagement and promise as a relatively new member of the wildlife rehabilitation community in the State of New Jersey.”

To be considered for this award, a request for nominees goes out to all members of the NJAWR. All nominations are collected by the awards and scholarship committee and then presented to the board for voting.

Ms. Golden started her career at the Mercer County Wildlife Center as a volunteer and through the years worked her way up to Clinic Supervisor. She is licensed by the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife as a tertiary permit holder for mammals and reptiles and handles many of the day-to-day operations at the center.

“I am very proud of Nicole, she is a real asset to the Wildlife Center,” said Park Commission Executive Director Kevin B. Bannon. “Her hard work and dedication are reflected in the award she has received from her peers.”

The Wildlife Center is owned by the County of Mercer and operated by the Mercer County Park Commission. The center is located on Route 29 in Hopewell Township, approximately 12 miles north of Trenton.
