Statement from the Hopewell Township Committee

by Community Contributor

During this unprecedented and difficult time, all of us on the Township Committee as well as the Township’s dedicated professional staff want to be a source of information and guidance to our community.

The front page of the Township’s website, https://www.hopewelltwp.org, lists the latest updates and changes to Township events as well as our new operating policies for the Municipal Building and key departments. We ask that you be patient as our staff is working under difficult circumstances, focusing on the most critical needs to keep the functions of government moving forward.

The website also has a link to information posted by Stephanie Carey, who is serving as our interim health officer and is also the health officer for Pennington and Hopewell Boroughs. Here you can find links to the CDC website as well as the latest information from the state. As you are well aware, the situation is developing rapidly. We will update our website with new information as it becomes available.

Our Office of Emergency Management will continue to make sure that the needs of all Hopewell Valley residents are met. We are deeply grateful to our first responders, both volunteer and professional, for the work they are doing to serve the community. We are in regular communication with our partners at the municipal, county, state, and federal levels as well as with the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.

Medical and other scientific experts are emphasizing the steps that are critical to saving lives, We urge everyone to follow their guidance. Please practice good hygiene and social distancing. Stay home if you are sick. Visit the following website for additional information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavi…/2019-ncov/community/index.html

We are fortunate to live in a very connected community where we care about, and look after, our friends and neighbors. We encourage you to continue to be smart, safe, and respectful. For example, when you are in the store, buy only what you need and leave the rest for others. Check in on a neighbor to make sure they are okay. And keep a close eye on our older neighbors and those who may be alone.

For over 300 years, the residents of Hopewell Township have weathered many storms. The situation we find ourselves in today is unprecedented. We know there will be challenges in the coming days and weeks, and we are confident that Hopewell Township has the resources and the will to continue working together to solve any problems we encounter. If there is something you see that needs to be done, let us know.

Stay in touch and let’s take care of each other.
