Summer at the Hopewell Borough Public Library

by Community Contributor

Curbside pickup for books, DVDs, and audio CDs at the Hopewell Public Library has been up and running for the past few weeks. We are thrilled to be back in contact with our patrons, and to see all of those smiles (even from behind masks!).

For curbside pickup, Library patrons are able to request an item through the Holds system on the HPL website, or by calling the library for help. When requested items are ready, the patron is contacted and scheduled for a Tuesday or Saturday pickup between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. InterLibrary Loan services have not yet resumed, and the library building remains closed to the public at this time. Pre-closure items should be returned to the library Drop Boxes by July 15th when the regular fee schedule will restart. Check the website for details about how to get a HPL library card if needed.

The summer reading program, IMAGINE YOUR STORY, has started for children. The children’s program this year includes a fantastic Quest to search for imaginary creatures throughout the borough. The reading program already is under way, but there is still time to sign up by calling the library for details. Children choose their own personal goal of how many books they can read this summer. This summer, the HPL is fortunate to have local author and illustrator, Barbara DiLorenzo, as a collaborator for a children’s Quest! Ms. DiLorenzo (barbaradilorenzo.com) has created poetic clues for our Quest hunt, and has painted magical, mythical, imaginary creatures to be found hiding here and there in the Hopewell community. There will be a total of seven creatures to find – with a new clue each week. Three hunters who complete the Quest and are able to find all of the creatures will win a gift certificate to The Bear and the Books.

More information and full details for curbside pickup and the children’s summer program can be found on the library’s website (redlibrary.org). And keep an eye on HPL Facebook posts (Hopewell Public Library NJ). Feel free to contact the library with any questions (609-466-1625). Staffing is still limited, but we will get back to you as soon as we can.
