Teens 4 TASK Collecting Donations for Hygiene Kits

by Esha Dhar

Trenton Area Soup Kitchen’s teen volunteer group, Teens 4 TASK, is currently assembling hygiene kits for many of the patrons. The group is accepting donations from toothpaste to shampoo to disposable razors, and is also accepting gently used backpacks.

“Our donations will make a difference in many patrons’ lives and give them basic necessities we take for granted,” said Ayushi Jain, president of Teens 4 TASK, “So please consider donating. Patrons are always grateful for anything that can be provided.”

Trenton Area Soup Kitchen is a privately funded organization that provides free meals and other forms of aid to patrons in order to help them get back on their feet. Hot meals are provided twice a day from Monday to Thursday and once a day on Friday — even on holidays. They also provide adult education classes, some medical services, hygiene bags, kids programs, and a specialist that gives assistance on issues like housing and employment. Anyone can volunteer during the week by serving meals or helping in the kitchen.

For teenagers who want to become more involved in TASK, there is a group called Teens 4 TASK. Teenagers from all over Mercer County can participate by filling out an online application. This group works to spread the word about TASK to youth and its numerous volunteer opportunities. They volunteer frequently at TASK while working on projects such as running drives for hygiene products and school supplies. Their work supports TASK through many of its initiatives.

If you are interested in donating anything please email Esha Dhar by March 25: [email protected]. Again, all items are greatly appreciated!
