Textile Bins at all HVRSD Schools Reopen

by Community Contributor

On April 12, textile bins at all schools were closed because the New York based vendor, Wearable Collections, was temporarily unable to service the bins and make regular pickups. The textile collection bins have now reopened.

Hopewell Valley schools began textile recycling in 2010 with proceeds going to school PTOs. Details can be found on the district website at https://www.hvrsd.org/apps/pages/TextileDrive or on the textile facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HopewellTextiles/.

Lisa Wolff, a chair of the textile drive since its inception stated: “The textile bins are very popular and are among the PTOs biggest fundraisers. Demand has grown since people are at home doing spring cleaning, so I am sure that people will be happy to have a convenient location for drop-offs again.”

The bins were shut down in mid-April when they were overflowing. Wearable Collections reports they are prepared for the bins to reopen.

Adam Baruchowitz, CEO of Wearable Collections stated: “We are now back up and running and ready to help.”

  • Bins are located at each school.
  • Drop off textiles in the bins. If bins are full, do not leave items outside the bin. Send a message on the Hopewell Textiles Facebook page.
  • A list of acceptable item is on the bin or can be found here.
