The Hopewell Public Library is hosting its annual Garden Tour: The Hidden Gardens of Hopewell, a self-guided exhibition of Hopewell Borough area’s hidden gems on Saturday, June 26 from 10am to 3pm.
The tour includes five gardens and three rain gardens filled with unique features to delight and inspire. Tour highlights include several “in-town” gardens, an intimate but bursting courtyard garden nestled behind a townhouse, and Skinny Tree Farm, a 11-acre farm bordering St. Michael’s preserve.
One garden on the tour, owned by Samantha and Mark Bean, is called “Flutter by Meadows” and has exclusively of native plants. Tour attendees can stroll around the 1-acre wildflower meadow, once a detention basin, and experience this magical space shared with birds, bees, and butterflies.
“With a migratory bird pop over, or an opportunist native plant that chooses to grow, this garden flourishes in the unexpected,” shared Samantha. “We used native plants to increase biodiversity through the creation of seasonally evolving habitats for pollinators. At Flutter By Meadows, native landscaping, meadows, and a rain garden are continuously evolving with the seasons. Here, the garden is a HABITAT: Horticulture and Biodiversity Inter-Twining and Thriving.”
Tickets for this self-guided tour are $25 (or $30 day of) and include the map to direct and introduce participants to each garden. Tickets can be purchased at the Hopewell Public Library at 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell Borough or through the Library’s website. All proceeds go directly to the Hopewell Public Library.
