Timberlane Middle School proudly presents the classic story of the Ugly Duckling in Honk! Jr., The Musical Thursday, May 3 at 6:30p.m., Friday, May 4 at 7p.m. and Saturday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. at The Hopewell Valley Performing Arts Center.
The classic Hans Christian Anderson story of the Ugly Duckling is a heartwarming tale of tolerance, love, and self discovery. Mother Duck Ida (Emily Griffin) lives on a farm with her husband Drake (Elliot Block) and both anticipate the arrival of their ducklings. When one doesn’t look like the others, they call him Ugly (Hudson Orfe) and the barnyard crew jump into a tirade of insults because of his looks.
Mother duck loves her son unconditionally but they get separated from each other. Seasons pass on his journey, as he runs from a sinister and hungry cat (Grace Lee) and finds comfort with strangers who become new friends and help him find his way home with an unexpected family.
All ages will enjoy this relatable and high-energy musical. There are messages about not judging a fowl by their feathers and a family’s love and acceptance.
