They discovered from the book “Pennington Presents her Present and Past – 1940,” found in their library that in 1924 the Pennington School was so badly overcrowded that “on approval of the voters of the District a Grammar School was erected on Main Street on ground donated by Mr. Wm. P. Howe, Sr. This building contains 8 classrooms, an auditorium, an office and a teachers’ room and cost approximately $112, 000. This buidling was occupied in May, 1926.”
The students shared several examples with the rest of the student body, staff and visitors at the birthday celebration this Tuesday. Students also sang the “Toll Gate Bomp” with the entire school, along with a few other songs describing why they are thankful to Toll Gate and was also a great opportunity to reinforce lessons of respect and trustworthiness.
