Traditional Irish Cèilidh to be held in Hopewell

by Community Contributor

Voices Chorale NJ will hold a traditional Cèilidh (pronounced kay-lee) featuring Celtic musician Gerry Dignan and friends on Sunday, March 22, 2020, from 3pm to 6pm at Music Together Worldwide, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Road, Hopewell, NJ 08525. A Cèilidh is an Irish (or Scottish) social gathering with music, dancing, and celebration.  All are welcome to come join chorale members and supporters for this family-friendly event.

Gerry Dignan has been singing in Irish gathering places since he first traveled to Ireland in 1975. From his father’s songs to his great Aunt Ellen Quinn’s stories of the old times in Ireland, he has been steeped in a love for Irish folklore. He was a member of the world renowned Chicago Symphony Chorus, has been soloist with the Holy Gospel Choir of Chicago for 20+ years, and is featured as “Uncle Gerry” in the international family music program, Music Together.  An avid aficionado and performer of traditional Irish songs, Gerry has been singing in Irish gathering places since 1975, and he and his wife Denise lead summer tours to Ireland.

Invite your friends and family and bring your voice, instruments and tapping feet.  Local talent is welcome to sign up for an “Open Mic.”

Light refreshments and soft drinks served. Or bring your favorite beverage!

Tickets $30/adult and $20/child (under18) online at https://www.voiceschoralenj.
