Trenton Councilwoman Caldwell-Wilson Replaces Flag at Trenton Battle Monument Park

by Mary Galioto

On Monday November 10, 2014, immediately before the Trenton’s Veteran’s Day memorial service, Councilwoman Marge Caldwell-Wilson, along with Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson, will re-dedicate a newly restored flag pole and replace the flag at the Battle Monument.

The flag pole was so heavily rusted and in need of restoration that lowering and raising the flag was impossible, while the flag itself flew tattered under the prior mayoral administration.

The Councilwoman purchased a new flag and secured the restoration efforts after being alerted to the poor condition of the previous flag. And the flag pole was restored at no cost to the city thanks to a donation of $1,800 from the California-based company, G L Holdings LLC.

“It is only fitting that we not only respect the historic site and honor those who died for our Freedom, but also respect the national flag that flies over Battle Monument Park”, said Caldwell-Wilson.

The Trenton Battle Monument commemorates the American Victory at the first Battle of Trenton on December 26, 1776.
