A flea market you must visit!

by Sarah El Miniawy Hefni

Dubbed the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market (coolest name ever?), this is a Mercer County tri-annual happening that you don’t want to miss. No need to be a Punk Rock aficionado, maybe you just like to sample some gourmet food from the trucks, followed by a decent cup of coffee and some idle browsing?

According to their website, a typical Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market (TPRFM) installment would have “vendors selling everything from vintage clothing, original artwork, antiques, silkscreened posters and handmade jewelry to handmade tshirts, vintage toys, vinyl (of course) and numerous other interesting curiosities and unique collectibles”.

If you’ve been to Trenton’s Art All Night and wondered about the premises of the Historic Roebling Machine Shop, you will be pleased to know that this is where the flea market takes place – in the heydays of “Trenton makes the world takes” this is where the wire rope for Brooklyn Bridge was once manufactured.

“We embrace a life-long love of punk rock and hardcore, DYI ethics, the arts, tattoos, copious amounts of coffee, the occasional shot of Jameson and a solid, well-styled quiff” say the organizers. I’m there!

TPRFM is on Sunday August 3rd, 10am – 5pm
