Twenty three local nonprofit organizations receive grants from Hopewell Harvest Fair

by Mary Galioto

Hopewell Harvest Fair awarded grants to twenty-three local nonprofit organizations at last week’s ceremony. Thanks to the generosity of Hopewell Harvest Fair (HHF) sponsors and those who attended this year’s fair, the HHF was able to award close to $7,000. The money will help support special projects and contribute to operating costs of many local charitable causes including several elementary school science fairs throughout the Hopewell Valley, a variety of projects for local seniors, several music and theatre programs and includes donations to Womanspace and the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.

The Hopewell Harvest Fair is a community building and supporting event that brings together residents of the Hopewell Valley each year. Beyond a single-day event, the fair is a fundraiser for a community grant program that provides support for nonprofit organizations doing important work in the Hopewell Valley. A percentage of all proceeds from the Fair go directly to the program. Since its inception, over $210,000 has been distributed to deserving local groups.

“All of us at the [Hopewell] Harvest Fair are proud to be able to support the good work being done in our community. Once again, we were able to contribute funds to many worthy causes—and it’s all thanks to the members of the community who come out every year to the Fair. Thank you all!” said 2014 Hopewell Harvest Fair Chairperson Julie Sansone.

The following are this year’s Hopewell Harvest Fair Grant recipients: Capital Health, Christine’s Hope for Kids, EASEL Animal Rescue League, Hopewell Public Library, Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre, Hopewell Valley Chorus, Hopewell Valley Leisure Club, Hopewell Valley Senior Services, Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, OPIS Foundation, Prevention Education Inc.
