Two HoVal Emergency Service Firefighters Win Award of Valor

by Mary Galioto

Hopewell Valley Emergency Services firefighters Rob Bailey and Matt Peck received the 2016 Award of Valor at the 200 Club of Mercer County’s Annual Luncheon today.

Bailey and Peck responded to a house fire in Hopewell Borough and, while searching the burning building, located an unconscious victim on the second floor. They were able to rescue the victim and, due to their quick action, the victim has made a complete recovery.

Founded in 1979, the 200 Club of Mercer County is dedicated to providing financial assistance to the families of our police, fire, and rescue personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.  In 2015, the 200 Club of Mercer County named their awards the “R. Peter Hodge Valor Award” in honor of its late founding Board member who was truly an inspiration for his dedication and support of all first responders in the community.
