House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged area Democrats to work towards record voter turnout in this year’s November 3 election. Speaking at Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman’s annual Women’s Power Lunch on February 8, Pelosi encouraged listeners to be inspired by “hope, the anchor linking faith and charity” in every effort “to restore a government of, by, and for the people” in America.
More than three dozen Hopewell Valley residents attended the event at the Princeton Marriott Forrestal Hotel in Plainsboro, joined by hundreds of officials and activists from across the region and the State.
“It is important to remember,” said Hopewell Valley Democratic Club Chair Chris Malikschmitt, “the role our region has played in American history. Many of us feel that this year, more than any in memory, the November election will shape the future of our country. The mission of our Club is organizing volunteers to help shape our future for the better.”
The Hopewell Valley Democratic Club is a coalition comprised of like-minded individuals from all three Valley municipalities. While the Democratic party has official committees in each municipality, the Club brings neighbors together to work on initiatives from canvassing for local candidates to post-carding for national campaigns.
