On Monday, Ken Baker, President of the Hopewell Valley Veterans Association, made a presentation to the Pennington Council. Here are his remarks:
“This past year, Governor Murphy developed a program, “The New Jersey Governor’s ‘We Value Our Veterans’ Community’ Award” recognizing communities that value our veterans. To qualify for this award, each town would have to answer a series of questions based on the community’s support for local veterans. Questions were rated on a points system.
On November 11, Veterans’ Day, Governor Murphy presented qualified
I was accompanied by Bill Meytrott and we were presented with Pennington Borough as well as Hopewell Township and Hopewell Borough certificates.
Tonight, I would like to present this award to the Mayor and Council for your continuing support for our veterans in the community.
One of the final requirements for the program is to provide a reserved parking spot for a purple heart recipient. Council will need to decide on a locationfor this parking spot.
Again, our veterans thank the Mayor and council for their continuing support.”
