SUMMARY:Westminster Community Orchestra presents Love and Fate
DESCRIPTION:Join the Westminster Community Orchestra and Dr. Ruth Ochs on March 29th at 3:00 p.m. for “Love and Fate\,” a concert featuring soprano Ally Christiansen performing arias—Mozart’s “Ruhe sanft” from Zaide and Joseph Bologne\, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges’\, “Du tendre amour” from L’amant anonyme\, plus Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2\, Adoration by Florence Price\, and the first movement of John Baston’s Concerto in C Major for Recorder and Strings\, performed by Juliana Correa Ogihara. The program concludes with Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No 5 in C minor.\n\n\nAlly Christiansen is a 2024 Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy graduate from Rider University’s Westminster Choir College. During her time at Westminster\, she sang in the Westminster Symphonic Choir as well as in the prestigious Westminster Singers.  The second-place winner in the Westminster Conservatory Concerto Competition\, Juliana Correa Ogihara was born in Rio Grande do Sul\, Brazil and began recorder studies at the age of seven. She moved to New Jersey in 2024 and attends Millstone River School.\n\n\nThe concert will take place in Hillman Hall\, in the Cullen Center\, on the Westminster campus\, Walnut Lane\, in Princeton. SUMMARY:Westminster Community Orchestra presents "Heartbeat Rhythm"
DESCRIPTION:Join the Westminster Community Orchestra and Dr. Ruth Ochs on Sunday\, February 22nd at 3:00 p.m. as it features the U.S. premiere of Uri Bar-Or’s “Heartbeat Rhythm.” A promising Israeli composer\, Bar-Or was killed while serving in the Nahal Brigades 50th Battalion of the Israeli Defense Forces. The program also includes rising soprano\, Ally Christiansen\, with two arias dating to 1780 – Mozart’s “Ruhe sanft” from Zaide and Joseph Bologne\, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ “Du tendre amour” from L’amant anonyme. The concert will conclude with Dvorak’s Symphony No 6\, a work filled with joy and Bohemian flair.\n\n\nAlly Christiansen is a 2024 Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy graduate from Rider University’s Westminster Choir College. SUMMARY:Westminster Community Orchestra presents “Holiday Favorites and Sing-along”
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the holiday season with Dr. Ruth Ochs and the Westminster Community Orchestra at their annual free family holiday concert on Wednesday\, December 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Hillman Hall\, in the Marian Buckelew Cullen Center on the Westminster Campus\, 101 Walnut Lane\, Princeton. Audience members requiring seating assistance should arrive at 7:15 p.m. Free-will cash donations to benefit area food pantries will be accepted.\n\n\nThe festive performance will feature holiday favorites as “Frosty the Snowman\,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town\,” “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer\,” and more. The program will also include Tchaikovsky’s March from The Nutcracker and the “Polonaise” finale from Symphony No\, 3\, plus compositions written by two members of the orchestra: Beth LaPat’s Chanukah Songs and the World Premiere of Cliﬀ Wilson’s Opening Presents. The audience will be invited to lend their voices in Leroy Anderson’s popular “A Christmas Festival.”\n\n\nNo tickets are required for the free hour-long program.
