New Jersey nonprofit VolunteerConnect will recognize the dedication, commitment and extensive volunteer work of social entrepreneur and volunteer Geniva Martin, the Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) and Novo Nordisk at their annual Impact Awards. This year’s reception, which celebrates the “Joy of Volunteering,” will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 6-8pm, at the Boathouse at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
VolunteerConnect helps organizations enhance their capacity by providing the professional talent they need to get critical, strategic-level projects completed. “We match skilled professionals looking for volunteer opportunities to nonprofits who need their professionals skills,” said Amy Klein, Executive Director of VolunteerConnect. Each year, the nonprofit selects an individual, a nonprofit and a community partner who exemplify the spirit of volunteerism.
For the second year, VolunteerConnect is honoring an individual with the prestigious Liz Erickson Volunteer Impact Award. “This year’s honoree, Geniva Martin, could not be more deserving,” said Klein. “Geniva has devoted endless energy and valuable leadership to so many area nonprofits.”
Geniva previously served on the Impact Award committee for VolunteerConnect and is the current benefit tri-chair, past president, and a long-term board member of Corner House, as well as the Development co-chair of the YWCA Princeton. She also serves on committees for the Junior League of Greater Princeton and the Princeton-Blairstown Center, and is actively involved with the Design at Dohm Alley, sponsored by Princeton Future, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties.
This year’s nonprofit honoree, the Princeton-Blairstown Center, provides adventure-based, experiential education to vulnerable youth.

Corporate Awardee Novo Nordisk, the world’s leader in diabetes care, is among a handful of companies around the world to incorporate the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) model into its company bylaws. This is based on the principle that a company’s bottom line should reflect more than financial considerations, and that corporate giving should not just be in dollars.
