Washington Crossing Park Association leads the public to crucial Revolutionary War sites -now through October.

by Community Contributor

The Washington Crossing Park Association (WCPA), which is the friends group supporting New Jersey’s Washington Crossing State Park, provides free, guided tours every other Sunday. The tour highlights significant events of December 25, 1776, when General Washington landed here to turn the tide of the American Revolutionary War.

The tour offers a concise account of events that took place in New Jersey on the first of the Ten Crucial Days: from the Crossing itself, including ferry operations that moved the Continental Army across the Delaware – to decisions made by General Washington and his officers near the 1740 Johnson Ferry House – to the heroic crossing of Jacob’s Creek and march to Trenton resulting in victory.

The WCPA Guided tour begins in the auditorium of the Visitors Museum Center in the Park, has five stops, and takes 90 minutes.  Remaining tours this year will take place on September 26, October 10, and October 24, each beginning at the Park Visitors Center at 12:30. Tours are free and groups are limited to 20 people; pre-registration is required. For more information and to pre-register, click here.
