The Washington Crossing Park Association (WCPA-NJ) has announced that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the crossing re-enactment, usually held on December 25, is cancelled for this year. However, according to Hopewell Township resident Mike Chipowsky, re-enactors depicting General Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River this morning as seen in the featured photograph, which was taken and submitted by Chipowsky. The annual reenactment was filmed and will be shown on Christmas Day. More information is here.
New Jersey native and life-long artist Lloyd Garrison has produced a series of four new paintings depicting the Christmas crossing of the Delaware River during the Revolutionary War. Garrison is well-known for his work on historical subjects. According to WCPA-NJ Board Member William Traubel, Garrison wanted to bring the story of the crossing to life, especially the importance of the ferry.
