Volunteers from 12 local communities will gather on April 23 & 24 to transform local rivers, lakes, and streams during the 16th annual Watershed Stream Cleanups.

Each year thousands of pounds of trash and pollutants are washed from streets and yards into our rivers and streams, eventually flowing into New Jersey’s bays and the ocean.
“Stream clean ups have an enormous impact on our water quality, protecting the environment and removing tons of trash,” said Jim Waltman, Executive Director of The Watershed Institute. “We appreciate the willingness of volunteers, neighbors, and families to join forces to help clean up our water.”
To date, more than 6,900 volunteers helped keep our waterways safe by gathering and disposing of 125,000 pounds of trash and unwanted waste from local streams and rivers.
The cleanup is a great way to honor Earth Day and gives people a hands-on opportunity to take responsibility for their environment, to make a difference and to interact with fellow community members. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and long sleeve shirts. Please bring your own gloves and reusable water bottle.
