The Biodiversity Kit was designed for wet and well-drained soils.
Included in the $30 kit is:
One Black Willow (Salix nigra): Fast-growing, multi-trunk tree common in floodplains and streambanks. Excellent species for stabilization and soil bio-engineering. Yellow blooms from April through May.
Two White meadowsweet (Spiraea latifolia): Small, suckering shrub of low, moist ground and old fields. White to pink flowers bloom from June through September and are attractive to butterflies.
*Sourland Conservancy Members Only* 3 Sweet Joe-Pye (Eupatorium purpureum): Wildflower of moist woods and meadows with whorled leaves and dome-shaped clusters of pink flowers.
Planting Supplies: Each kit has everything you need to protect your new plants from deer browse and other critters. One tree tube, support stake, three zip ties, and one bird net are included.
New Perennial Bed Design: Provided and designed by Pensive Weeds, a local floral and landscape service from Pennington! This upland kit includes a design meant to support biodiversity by transitioning a section of your lawn exposed to sunny and dry conditions.
