The Lindbergh Nanny: Writing about True Crime

March 27, 2023 @ 2:00 pm

Join the Lawrence HQ Branch Library on Monday, March 27, at 2pm to hear Mariah Fredericks discuss her latest novel, The Lindbergh Nanny, and the rewards and challenges of writing fiction about a true crime. Fredericks will discuss the deep research she did on the kidnapping itself, how she pieced together the life and thoughts of the nanny Betty Gow, the dynamics of the Lindbergh household, and what’s true and what’s not in her critically acclaimed novel. Fredericks was born, raised, and still lives in New York City. She graduated from Vassar College with a degree in history. She is the author of the Jane Prescott mystery series, which has twice been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award. Her latest novel, The Lindbergh Nanny, was hailed by CrimeReads as one of the Best Historical Mysteries of 2022 and listed by BookBub among the Best Historical Fiction of Fall 2022. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing through the Friends of the Lawrence Library. Advanced registration is appreciated. CONTACT: Lawrence Adult Services Staff  609-883-8292
