Spring has sprung and residents of the Hopewell Valley have been out and about enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures.
Last weekend was opening day for trout season in New Jersey. The banks of the Delaware and Raritan canal were packed with anglers trying to land the big one. For one local family, the Topley’s, from Pennington, this day has become a tradition. On Saturday, three generations gathered to try their luck. Lead by Grand Pop Wayne, the fish whisperer, along with his son and grandchildren, they were catching trout with nearly every cast, much to the amazement of the other fishermen.
This weekend, the Hopewell Valley Baseball and Softball Association held their opening day ceremonies at the Hopewell Township Municipal Athletic Complex. As part of the ceremony two defibrillators were donated to the Association by the Pennington Fire Company for use at the fields. All Valley first responders were thanked for the work that they do.]
