Police Respond to Shoplifting in Progress at Pennington ShopRite
On May 15, Officer Paul Alvaro responded to the ShopRite of Pennington for a reported shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, Officer Alvaro was waived down by a witness who directed him toward the suspect(s) who fled on foot. Alvaro made contact with one of the suspects in the parking lot. The second suspect reportedly fled on foot. The second suspect was later identified. The suspects were identified using in-store surveillance. The first suspect was arrested on scene with an additional active warrant out of Trenton and was charged with shoplifting for the incident as well. The first suspect was processed and turned over to Trenton Police after that. The second suspect was charged with obstruction and shoplifting and has not yet been arrested on the charges. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.
$6,000 in Jewelry Missing from Hopewell Township Residence
On May 22, Sgt Panzano met with the victim of theft in the Hopewell Township Police Department lobby. The victim reported that jewelry was stolen from the victim’s residence. According to the victim, the jewelry was stored in an armoire and was taken between May 20 and May 22. The total value of the missing jewelry was estimated at $6,000. There were reportedly no signs of forced entry into the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
$7,200 Lawnmower Stolen from Van Dyke Residence
On May 24, Officer Mandy Grey responded to a Van Dyke Road address for a reported theft of a lawnmower. The victim reported that they maintain the property with a zero-turn red Toro lawnmower valued at $7,200. The lawn mower is kept in a detached garage and the bay door was left unlocked. On the morning of May 24, the lawnmower was found to be missing from the property. The investigation is ongoing.
