Sheriff’s Summer Safety Tip: Think Before You Post

by Community Contributor

As summer vacations kick into full gear, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler urges residents to exercise caution with their social media habits. In a recent advisory, Sheriff Kemler highlighted an increasing concern regarding potential burglaries linked to online behavior.

“With criminals becoming more sophisticated in their methods, it’s important to be mindful of what you share on social media,” warned Sheriff Kemler. He specifically advises against posting travel plans or vacation photos on social platforms while away from home. Such posts can inadvertently signal to potential thieves that your house is empty and vulnerable.

“Enjoy your trips and make wonderful memories, but save the photo sharing for when you return,” the Sheriff added.
