by MercerMe Staff

On Sunday August 21, 2016, members of the Lawrence Township Police Department; the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office; and the Department of Homeland Security (Investigations and Enforcement Removal Operations), concluded an eight month investigation and arrested three people at the Red Roof Inn, Brunswick Pike, Lawrence Township New Jersey.

The arrests were made after an eight month investigation into Human Trafficking and the promotion of prostitution being conducted by Kevin I. Jasper , 56 years old and Jianying Chen (AKA Jianying C. Collins) 48 years old both residing on West 47th Street, Manhattan, NY. The investigation revealed that Jasper and Chen transported numerous Asian females from New York City to the Red Roof Inn located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey for the sole purpose of promoting the females to engage in prostitution and the money would be turned over to Jasper. Jasper and Chen used various online escort sites to promote their criminal activity.

Jasper and Chen were each charged with 1 count of 1st degree human trafficking, and 3 counts of 3rd degree promoting prostitution. They were lodged at the Mercer County Corrections Center on $150,000 bail.

Hong Wang, 38 years old of West 47th Street, Manhattan, New York was arrested and charged with 2 counts of engaging in prostitution. Wang was processed and released on a summons. The Investigation is still ongoing and the Lawrence Police is attempting to identify additional victims.

The Lawrence Township Police Department led the investigation but it would not have been a success without the assistance of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office and the Department of Homeland Security (Investigation and Enforcement Removal Operations).
