Even with a chance of rain in the forecast, Pennington Day 2016 is on this weekend — rain or shine!

And strap on your running sneakers because the 40th Annual Pennington 5K race race will also take place on Saturday, May 21, rain or shine, to benefit both the Hopewell Valley YMCA and the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance.

The morning events begin with registration at 8 am, a 1-mile fun run for students in grades K-8 at 8:30 am and certified 5K race/walk at 9:15 am. The course will take 5K runners and walkers through the vendors of Pennington Day and scenic streets of downtown Pennington. Participants can expect music (weather depending), post-race refreshments and a race T-shirt while supplies last. Hopewell Valley Regional School District Superintendent Thomas Smith will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s race.

Awards will be given to top male and female in nine age categories.  All events take place in front of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District Administration building, 425 S. Main Street, Pennington. For information on the 5K race run the morning of Pennington Day by the Hopewell Valley YMCA and Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance, click here.

Pennington Day’s officially starts at 10AM and goes until 4PM. Its mission is to further the borough’s community spirit and identity as a community and enhance its quality of life, while providing community groups, civic organizations and businesses throughout Hopewell Valley an opportunity to inform the community of their mission, allowing community organizations from within Hopewell Valley to raise funds through their sponsorship of Pennington Day events and/or the booths they set up, and finally, to disburse any funds in excess of expenses to charitable organizations within the Hopewell Valley in the form of annual grants.
