I would like to encourage everyone to support Sky Morehouse for Hopewell Borough Council in the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 7th. It has been an honor to work with Sky during my first year in office, and a pleasure to meet with him before I was elected to learn more about the issues facing the borough.
Sky carries important institutional knowledge and has deep ties to the community, including being the chair of the Hopewell Borough Board of Fire Commissioners, Borough Council President, and the leader of the annual Saturday morning spring park clean-up. Sky and his wife Liza also contribute to many local philanthropic ventures.
Sky has shown a rare capacity to adjust to a changing world. During the time that I’ve served alongside Sky on the Hopewell Borough Council, I’ve seen his ability to be empathetic, adaptable and inclusive. Sky acts as an invaluable resource for first-year council members such as myself. He and Liza are always encouraging young people and folks new to the borough to become more involved in their community.
The value that Sky offers the borough with his public service and the work he has done transcend party politics. I’m a proud democrat, but at the municipal level of government we get a unique opportunity to see candidates for who they truly are and what they can do for the community. Sky and I might not always agree, but healthy debate is an important part of a democracy, as are mutual respect and working together as a team.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Sky and I very much hope that I will have the opportunity to continue to work with him and learn from him, and that our community will continue to benefit from his leadership.
